MEET THE CREATIVE MINDS BEHIND THE BRAND
Tentacle Kitty, affectionately nicknamed TK, made her debut in 2009 through the creative partnership of Raena and John Merritt. Since then, TK has become a beloved staple on the comic convention circuit across the United States. Her colorful friends and charming stories have fueled multiple successful Kickstarter campaigns.
Raena Merritt brings the heart of Tentacle Kitty to life through her storytelling. Her whimsical narratives, infused with humor and adventure, blend seamlessly with John's visual worlds to create a universe filled with fun, friendship, and tentacled charm. Together, this duo continues to delight fans by changing the world one smile at a time.
Beyond the plushies that fill homes worldwide, Raena's writing expands the Tentacle Kitty universe into books and comics. Various artists, including John Merritt, Brittney Williams, and Yishan Li, contributed to a coloring book.
Then came the highly anticipated debut of Tales Around the Teacup, released by Dark Horse Comics on April 26, 2022, which invites readers to join "The Pink One" and friends for tales of action and adventure over tea. From hunting cotton candy mice to pirate hijinks and convention antics, it delivers stories for all ages told in true Tentacle Kitty style.
While Tales Around the Teacup marked Tentacle Kitty’s first graphic novel, Raena and John had previously brought the character to comics with a webcomic series that debuted in 2014 on Tapas. All twenty-four episodes remain available to read online.
