MEET THE CREATIVE MINDS BEHIND THE BRAND
Tentacle Kitty, or TK as affectionately nick named, made its debut in 2009 by the partnership of John and Raena Merritt. Since its inception, TK has been a stronghold in the comic convention circuit across the United States. Her colorful friends and complying story have been the subject of multiple successful Kickstarter campaigns.
When it comes to putting pixel to paper, John Merritt creates whimsical and fantastic worlds. Awkwardly merged with Raena’s storytelling, and magical swirling of their combined “outside the box” humor, they have created a universe full of fun, adventure, ill and, most importantly, cat with tentacles.
This dynamic duo has the best job in the world, changing the world one smile at a time!
Not only can you see these plushies in your home, but you can read their stories in printed words. Various artists, including but not limited to, John Merritt, Brittney Williams, and Yishan Li released a coloring book.
Now after many years the highly anticipated debut release of "Tales Around the Teacup" by Dark Horse Publishing is April 26th 2022.
Dark Horse describes the graphic novel, ‘Join in on an new adventure with “The Pink One” and friends as the whole tentacle kitty gang regales us with tales of action and adventure over tea! From hunting down cotton candy mice, to pirate hijinks, and mega convention run ins, this tome features stories for all readers, told only as a Tentacle Kitty can!’
While Tales Around the Teacup is Tentacle Kitty’s first graphic novel, it’s not the first time the character has been brought to comics. The Merritts’ also produced a webcomic series for the character, which debuted back in 2014 on Tapas. The twenty-four episodes of that series are still available to read.
Tentacle Kitty entered into an exciting partnership with Scholastic Books with the release with their book called The World of Tentacle Kitty. This story will transport you to a the faraway depths of the universe to meet the cutest extraterrestrial you've ever seen, learn all about her amazing friends, and go on a hilarious adventure in this out-of-this-world guide!
